Welcome to Pacha Mama Art - Bienvenidos A Pacha Mama
My name is Valezka and I would like to share my work with you.
I see myself as a woman,a mother, an artist and a daughter of the Earth.
I am many things, like all women.
As an artist I am self taught. Life gives me the opportunities and reasons to create everday and the techniques with which to do so.
I like to paint women because they are earthy, they are hard and soft, they are wild and domesticated, they are practical and they are dreamers. They are a paradox. Just like Pacha Mama, Mother Earth. They must bend and flow in all moments, transform themselves, reinvent themselves and sometimes rebirth themselves. I beleive that there is great power in a woman's underworld. It is here that she can truly meet herself, eye to eye and accept who she is. It is here where she can find the tools and the courage to be all that she was meant to be.
At this moment I have the privillage of being the carer of a herd of Horse Elders.
This is a herd of horses that has come together from various places and circumstances.
It is has been with their help that sacredness and meaning has returned to my life. Because of them the creative spirit has been reignited and has flourished in me. The result is a series of works both written and painted that is a representation of the connection I have discovered between myself and the world.
My work is symbolic. I like to call it dreamtime work because it is to this mythical place that I must go to retrieve the images and feelings of each piece. The horses have accompanied me while I dared face my deepest fears and have healed trauma that I thought would take my life. It has not been an easy or always pleasant path, but with their help I have found my authentic self, my power, my heart. These amazing beings have led me to a place, where the world stops, the void in which there is nothing, but that contains everything. The great matrix of all, the dreamtime. It is from this place that my paitings come. It is on the backs of my mares that I go to gather the symbols so that I may use them to tell a story.
In this world between worlds where all creation lies and is waiting to be born is where Pacha Mama can be found. She is represented over and over in every piece. There is an aspect of her reflected in every woman. It is my aim to try to capture this reflection and paint it so that it may come out into the light and become. So that we may see who we truly are and rejoice in that revelation.
I would like to use my work to celebrate life because a woman has many challenges to face and must be many things at once to many people. But I would like her to never forget who she really is when all the masks and personas are gone, when she is by herself in the night. When someone wild calls from inside her. Someone free and untamed that can be all the things she dreams of being but dare not be.
Please have a look at the Pachamama art gallery. Each piece is a story, it is at once a picture and a poem.
May you find what you seek.
I
